Dates of manufacture:
Pete Townshend first used a custom humbucker equipped Telecaster style Schecter in 1979, but the first production Schecter Telecaster style guitar did not appear until 1984. For the first couple of years was known unofficially as the Pete Townshend (PT) model, although Townshend did not endorse it. In 1986 it was renamed the Saturn, and later still became officially known as the PT model, although it was somewhat different in design to Townshend's custom. One difference is Townshend's guitars had mahogany and poplar bodies but the current PTs have ash or alder bodies.
The PT is available as a USA production model as well as from Schecter's USA Custom Shop with mutliple wood, finish and hardware options. A more affordable Korean made PT is also available.
