SCHECTER introduced the Sunset Custom in 1996. It was part of the Sunset Series of models which had figured wood bodies, enhanced transparent finishes and natural wood binding. The Sunset Custom has a 7/8 sized stratocaster shape body.
When introduced in 1996 the Sunset Custom had HSS pickup configuration (Superock humbucker and two Monstertone single coils), no pickuguard, a figured ash body and a vintage synchronized tremolo. The current version (2015) has many custom options including: a choice of figured or flamed maple top on an ash body, pickguard, choice of pickup configuration (HH, HSS or HSH), and a choice of hardtail bride, vintage tremolo or Floyd Rose tremolo.
