This Magnatone Mark V features components and construction details that place it amongst the earliest of these guitars.  In particular, it features the earliest variant of the pickups used on this model, one-piece mahogany neck, all mahogany neck, sides and back, the long headstock, and the early neckjoint and body construction that is most characteristic of  guitars that the designer of the Magnatone Mark IV and V, Paul Bigsby, utilized on his own custom electric guitars and mandolins, including those he made for Merle Travis and Billy Byrd.
