1999 | $3200.00 | new | Best guitar purchase I have ever made, most enjoyable guitar I have ever played. It was a 1998 model (no electronics in this model at the time) and I think I paid $3200 new for the guitar. I added a $300 LR-bags dual source pickup system which boosted the out the door price to $3600 (installed). I have no intention of selling this guitar, but would be interested in what current market prices are for this model. To me this is a work of art and and has been a work horse for me over the years all around the US. This site is one of the few places to actually find information on all the versions of this guitar, and I rarely find anybody that knows about my specific model. To me with the look, size and most definitely the sound, makes this is my favorite acoustic, and I have played a lot of guitars from all around the price spectrum. The neck is a satin finish not high gloss polish which I feel sticks to my hands when running up and down the neck. My only complaint was the lack of a cutaway, which in my opinion, opened up my play styles in the middle of the neck, essentially only making me a more competent guitar player. I am very much a finger style guitar player that only uses the edge of my fingernails on middle and ring finger while holding a pick in my thumb and index. You may think from Taylor's description that this guitar may sound too harsh with the Hardwood top, body, in addition to its smaller body size, against my fingernails and pick, but I think it helps the guitar cut through instead of being washed out especially when playing with somebody else strumming another guitar. |
