Dates of manufacture:

2002

Originally introduced in 1999, the WI64 was the very first Idol model. With its bold single cutaway style and dual humbucker layout, the Original Idol provided a great alternative to the standard Les Paul clones. The WI64 has Washburns Voice Contour Control (VCC) circuit. The VCC circuit changes the tone of the pickup by blending coils rather than using the standard filter this varies the WB 600 series humbucker pickups from full humbucking mode to coil tapped mode and every tonal color in between. Go from thick crunchy tones to near single coil pristine tones by just rotating the knob. The WI64 features a thin mahogany body with set mahogany neck. The 22 fret rosewood fingerboard has dot inlays and the headstock features a gloss black cap with pearl Washburn logo and stylized W inlay. Hardware includes smooth operating chrome Grover 18:1 tuners, tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece.

This guitar was also available with a quilt-maple top and gold hardware (for an extra $100) as the WI-64-DL model.

2004$299newMattIt’s the WI64ND model, unfinished mahogany. I actually inherited the guitar this year. I cannot express how much I dig this guitar. It’s an amazing player, the pickups sound really good and the aesthetics just resonate with me. I’ve lightly sanded it for a smoother seal and it’s amazing. With the Buzz Feiten tuning system it’s in tune up to the 22nd fret….just a killer guitar It was bought on clearance and is the best deal I have ever seen.
1999$500newHarryBought new in Transparent red in 1999. This is the guitar that started by awesome Washburn collection and I still own it and its in immaculate condition. I have installed a Gibson Tony Iommi and Dimarzio PAF Classic and changed wiring to standard tone control. Guitar has devastating tone through any of my amp collection. I recently picked up another NOS WI64 in platinum finish in never used condition for $250 with the silver Washburn gig bag. I will add another Tony Iommi pickup in the bridge and a Seth Lover bridge pickup in the neck spot and change the tone controls again. I have played many SGs and the WI-64 Korean made Buzz Feitens are better sounding IMO
