While it looks like an electric guitar, the moodswinger is really an electric 12-string 3rd bridge overtone koto. The pickup and electronics are built into the neck. The 12 strings are grouped into 3 clusters of 4 and are tuned to E-A-D-G-C-F-A#-D#-G#-C#-F#-B.
There is a 3rd moveable bridge ( the thing that looks like a screwdriver in the picture), which will divide the strings into segments with different pitches. Being a koto you play it by striking the strings, depending where you hit them you can get different harmonic overtones and resonance.
