John How made his first acoustic guitar by following David Russel Young's book. After making 5 or 6 guitar he enrolled at the American School of Luthiery. In 2001 he built a new workshop and started making 6 to 10 guitars per year and refining his designs. Most are small body acoustic guitars, parlor through OM sized instruments. In 2004 he added two new larger guitars to his line-up: a Little Jumbo and a flat-picker guitar, model ND, more of a standard Dreadnought size.
