Paul Fox is best known as the guitarist of the British punk band "The Ruts". Paul Fox and his childhood friend Malcolm Owen formed the Ruts in 1977.  The Rut's first single issued in 1978 "In a Rut" is a good example Paul Fox's typical guitar style.

Malcolm Owen died from an overdose of heroin in 1980 and the band eventually broke up in 1982. After playing in a series of bands Fox was eventually working as a carpenter in the 1990s. He formed a band in 2006 "Foxy's Ruts" with his son Lawrence as the drummer, playing the Ruts material.

Paul Fox was diagnosed with lung cancer in May 2007, and died from his illness on October 21st 2007 at his home in Uxbridge.
