Production of the Ibanez GR520 (Ghost Rider 520) began in 1994 and ended in 1996. The GR520 was made in Korea by Samick (1994 - 1995) and then by Cort (in 1996 only). The Ibanez Ghostrider 520 is similar to the Ibanez GR-320 but has more expensive materials and hardware. It has a multiple bound alder (or mahogany) body and maple top, 22 fret bound rosewood fingerboard with abalone/pearl split block inlays. Bridge is tune-o-matic style, with a stop tailpiece. The headstock has 3 a side tuners with pearloid buttons. Hardware is gold. Pickups and controls are the same as the Ibanez GR-320. It came in either orange or vintage sunburst, to show off the maple top.

Body really made of mahogany?

Are you sure that the body of the Gr520 was made of mahogany? The old catalogues by Ibanez claim the body to be made of alder. What about the neck, was it mahogany or just nato?

The body is made of mahogany in my GR520... I think some GR520 made in the Cort factory were built with mahogany bodies.

the picture is a GR220 which originally came with P90 pickups. Someone swapped them out for humbuckers. Alder body, maple top and mahogany neck. Silver hardware, gold knobs and dot inlays. I believe the 220 was only made in 1995.

Thanks Alex,
You're right - the finish the neck inlays all point to it being a 220. I've removed the picture,

I bought one in 1995 new 800$ and one more pick up from a Peavey, a power-bar, the sound is exceptional can play any style the sound is there, one of the best I found for the price before I had a new fender telecaster for 1800$ disaster, sold it for 400$ that's all I could get for it. Never Fender again.
