The Daion Power Mark XX is my all-time favorite production line guitar. The neck-through "hippie sandwich" design is heavily influenced by the boutique handmade Alembic instruments of the time. The bridge has little Allen set screws to lock down the saddles after setting intonation, so the settings don't change when you change strings. The coil taps are the most useful I've ever played. Both settings sound good, and the single coil sound doesn't sound anemic compared to the humbucker setting, as on many coil tapped pickups. The body shape is thicker in the middle and narrower on the sides, just like Rick Turner's Model 1 instruments (this is done for tone, not just cosmetics). Overall, this is a beautiful, even sexy looking guitar that pays great, sounds great, and has outstanding ergonomics. Over the years I've collected five, one in each color. (The Guitar-List article claims they came in four colors: Tan (natural), Wine Red, Brown, Dark Green. There was also a black one.
