BLADE manufactured the R4-MG between 1988 and 1992. There is a strat. flavour to this guitar with its light ash body and bolt on 22 fret maple neck (ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlay was an optional extra). Color options were honey, violet, nightwood and sunburst. The G in the R4-MG name stands for Gold hardware, and the hardware used was good quality.

It had a Blade Falcon tremolo system with Sperzel Trimlock tuners and a graphite nut for good tuning stability. Electronics were mounted in a black pickguard: three single coil Blade SS-1 pickups, single volume control, single tone control, 5-position pickup selector switch and a  Variable Spectrum Control active electronics control.
