Montreal luthier Neil Hebert has specialized in making classical guitars since 1975. Although he initially trained as an engineer, he studied the guitar for several years before staring to make his own instruments. Hebert applies engineering principles to his luthiery, carefully measuring the acoustic properties of his instruments using special software and adjusting his designs accordingly. Neil Hebert has given workshops at the École de Lutherie Artistique du Noroît, in Québec, with a focus on guitar making, acoustics, and the use of computers in instrument making.
