VALUE FOR THE PRODUCT : I walked into a music store in April; 1985 to buy a synthesizer, and I did.But when I saw this georgeous guitar, the "Wayne and Garth' voice inside me said "It must be mine" Despite the $1195 price tag I offered $700 cash right now for the instrument. They sold it to me for $750 with a hard shell case and tuner for another $100 dollars. That was an excellent deal! I loved Guitar and Keyboard City stores in the Phoenix metro area during that decade. Its now 19 years later and I see that this guitar has remained a lasting value! OVERALL DESIGN: It is finished beautifully with a healthy coat of finish. The rose and abalone sound hole is solid, substantial and classy. The tuning pegs keep the strings solidly tuned up. My green burst finish damaged when I was disinfecting the entire house from the deadly Parvo with 10% chlorine solution. Yes I sprayed the guitar and that was a bad choice for it lightened and spotted the guitar's finish within 10 minutes. Argh. That way my fault. SOUND- The sound is rich and clear and loud. I have kept it primarily at 74 degrees and 5 % humidity for all of its life with me. Most of its life has been the studio with generally 2 hour outings into the dry and often hot Arizona weather. I have been using first extra light strings to get used to the 12 strings, and then went to light. Net time I will go to medium strings perhaps to get more of a meaty middle sound, but its voice is sweet, no buzzes, I am currently using D'Addario EXP38 12-String Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings. Wow, new strings take far less pressure to get tones. PLAYABILITY Chords and bar chords and easily played with its very close action that is consistent all up the neck. With its deep cut-away, playing up high is easy! QUALITY OF CONSTRUCTION:This guitar is solidly made. Perfectly crafted. Even after all of this time in Arizona's stable and dry humidity, there is no warping or twisting. It must be also the internal bracing. I had some electrical issues during the beginning years, there was some shorting and loose connections at teh 1/4" output area. I had it tightened and all has been well. years. DURABILITY AND RESISTANCE TO WEAR: There are light pick scratches on the fron surface, but not noticeable from a distance. The body remains stable after 18 years in Sound Works Studio www.swsaz.com
