Similar in design to the Steve Lukather signature RS1010SL model. From 1985 onwards the volume controls also act as Duo Sound coil tap switches for the pickups, with a push-pull action.

Ibanez RS1300 reviewed by Roosville

Basswood body with birds-eye over, neck has what appears to be a rosewood fingerboard, but is in fact a one piece neck, very cleverly dyed to appear to have a separate fretboard, but the big giveaway is the skunk-stripe down the back of the neck for the truss-rod. Pickups are very good being the Ibanez Super 58, PAF clones. Pro-Rocker trem has worn well, meaning it still works flawlessly. Great quality throughout, tuners, hardware. Gold plate comes away in all the usual areas. Playability is stunningly good, it really is a pick-up and play guitar, reasonably weighty despite a pronounced arched top which tapers all the edges. Binding lasts well and hasn’t dried out or discoloured. Inside the electrics cavity it is all conductive paint and shielded. A real professional instrument, plays well, sounds beautiful, and will last forever. Should have the V shape strap points fitted. If you get the change don’t pass on it.
