The Magnatone Mark V was a through neck semi-hollow bodied electric guitar was designed for Magnatone by Paul Bigsby. The following specifications are taken from the Magnatone 1956 catalog, so please excuse the marketing hyperbole

HEADSTOCK: Artistically balanced, with individual chromed machine heads with a rich 24 karat gold medallion.
NECK Consists of one solid piece of selected Honduras Mahogany from the top of the head to the end pin. In this rugged one-piece construction, the guitar is built around the neck instead of neck being bolted on as on other guitars. New type cantilever action adjustment rods which literally "float" the neck in perfect counter- balance to the string tension. Special guitar nut for greater response. Professional fretboard with seven inlaid position markers. Precision set. frets. Fast action neck has "slim line" contour.
BODY: Size—14-1/4 inches wide, 2-1/2 inches thick, 19 inches body length and 41 inches overall Hollowed-out body gives it the perfect balance. light weight and feel of a full sized auditorium guitar. Body wood choice of Mahogany or Basswood. Double cut-a-way makes top positions easier.
FINISH: Back and sides were a lustrous natural mahogany, sunburst top.
OTHER FEATURES Dual pick-ups using power-packed Alnico VI magnets. the very latest in magnets at this time. These together with Magnatone's own special windings enable the player to enjoy a tonal range and response of the highest calibre. Each pick-up unit can be raised or lowered in its entirety- plus an individual adjustment for each string. Functional heavily chromed pick-up covers.
BRIDGE: Bigsby vibrato unit..
PICKGUARD: scratch resistant handsomely fashioned pick guard.
CONTROLS: Simplified volume and tone control system. At the touch of a finger the single volume or tone control will instantly effect either or both of the pick-ups. thus permitting the performer the most intricate or extreme tonal or volume changes with a minimum of effort and confusion.
