2007 | $500 | good | David | what is the next affordable Martin model, for stepping up to solid wood. I would like to tell you. Im not a famous musician but your product saved my life!! I have severe O.C.D./ Depression. Im am in the 1 percent of people that are totally debilitated by this awful disease.Years ago I prayed for help with the guitar and started doing my part. I fell in love with playing. I have lived in my bedroom for 3 years, please, no joke. I bought this DR from my brother because he put a mark about 4 inches, its just cosmetic and I'm poor, for real. my story is on the ocd foundation front page, I've had brain surgery and all kinds of pills thrown down my throat but while on a Kurt Cobain memorial trip to WA. state with my 19 year daughter, I tried the pot that they give kids with like .0003 thc/cbd strain and she got to meet her daddy for the first time. Im on disability of course and its a whopping 1500 a month,Im thankful for it though. My wife has a good job and they said she could work from home but our dream of moving to a legal pot state is just for people that can afford it. I'm sorry for rambling. the point is I live in my room and it gets lonely as hell, if I didn't have this ol Martin I go nuts. thank you for being a blessing!! you never know how much you touch someones life in a positive way, yall have< thanks so much......David Hensley |
2018 | $750 | excellent | Actually purchased used in January 2019. I'm impressed! Martin is my dream guitar and I have long lusted for a vintage D-28. But the DR is a great Martin sounding/playing guitar at a fraction of the price. I can't understand why they do not make that model any more.
2018 | $500 | good | Purchased august 2020 eBay. Haven’t received it yet
2016 | €750 | good | Phil | Great sound great bass great pleasure !! These guitars have all’the quality of Martin guitars with no extra decoration. |

I bought my DR in 2001. I would not sell this guitar. I had to set it up to fit my preferences, lowered the strings and made slight adjustment to the rod in the neck. it sounds great, its aged beautifully, tone rivals my HD-28, just not quite as loud. I use Martin vintage light strings.it has a few small dings, nothing to detract much, neck is a bit worn on the backside but, again, not really noticeable. I wonder why they discontinued this model?

Great guitar for the price. Has a full sound from low bass to balanced treble. I'm a Taylor guy (614ce, 712ce, 314ce) but the DR has such nice volume and fullness that I would never want to sell it!! I had mine set up by an experienced guitar tech and it plays and sounds as good as guitars 5x the price.
