The French made Tantra Suryah is a relatively rare guitar, fewer than 100 were made in the early 1980s. Suryah means the sun. The egg shaped body has a single cutaway at the bottom. The body and neck were made from a single piece of old oak, reinforced with a central piece of amarante. The fingerboard is also amarante. The Suryah did not have a conventional adjustable trussrod- instead it had a hollow box section stainless steel bar to reinforce the neck.

The large single coil pickups were made by Tantra, big alnico 12 magnets wrapped with 10000 turns of wire. The laser-cut stainless steel pickguard helped to sheild these large pickups.
