TOKAI TALBO

Overview

Brand name:

Product:

  • electric guitars

Dates of manufacture:

1982

Tokai introduced the Talbo Blazing Fire guitar in 1982. Talbo stands for "Tokai Aluminum Body" and the Talbo's body is made from solid aluminum with a hollow chamber under the pickuguard. This guitar was a departure for Tokai - who at the time were best known for their superb copies of American classic designs. Tokai were justifiably proud of their innovative design - the Talbo's headstock decal says “The New Legend Of The Guitar History.”

Tokai Talbos remained in production since their introduction in 1982 (the model has continued to evolve and now comes with with twin humbuckers) - but Tokai's marketing has been low key in the period from initial release until 1999 when other Talbo variants were developed. These Talbo variants include the Talbo Woody - with wooden body instead of aluminum. The Talbo junior has a built in amplifier. There is also a bass version and an acrylic version.
