The Wilson SA 112 was the 12 string model from the SA series. It was essentially the same as the SAF 2 and SAT 2. Aside from the extra six strings, the differences were in the 1.5 inch longer headstock and the non-Schaller machine heads.
Finish is highly polished sunburst polyester. The headstock is black fading into clear for the remainder of the neck. There is a mother of pearl crown inlay on the headstock and mother of pearl dot neck markers.
The construction is similar to a Gibson 335 semi acoustic. The body front and back were made from 6 layer plywood, with sycamore outer surface. This plywood was pressed into the arched shape. A central solid block helps to support the neck. Body depth is 1.75 inches, maximum width 16 inches.
The neck is made from a lamination of 2 sycamore pieces around a central mahogany core. There is a U shaped aluminium truss rod channel, with an adjustable steel truss rod (access to the truss rod adjustment is via a plate at the headstock end). The fingerboard is rosewood. The neck has 21 frets.
The bridge is heavy chrome plated tun-o-matic style, with a fixed tailpiece.
Machineheads are chrome plated enclosed units. The SA 112 has 2 Schaller pickups, with chrome shell and hard rubber surrounds. The magnets are individually adjustable. The pickups have slide screw adjusters for tilt and height. Controls were: 3-way pickup selector, volume and individual tone controls for each pickup.
The model sold for £78 when new. Also available in a left handed configuration, with model name SA 112 LH.
