Rolf Eichinger was a German guitar maker, born in 1944 who worked in Granada, Spain from 1997 until his death in 2009. He studied industrial design but his interests drew him into guitar playing and he became a classical guitar teacher in 1970 at the Stuttgart Music School. A frequent visitor to Spain and its luthiers he often brought back Spanish guitars for his students. This progressed to him opening a guitar shop - Die Zupfgeige in 1978 in Karlsrhue. Eichnger took the opportunity to work in several Granada workshops learning the traditional construction techniques handed down and refined over generations. Eichinger devoted himself full-time to guitar making in 1991 and in 1997 opened his own workshop in Granada.
