The original owner of this exceptional guitar was a working jazz guitarist in New York who experienced medical difficulties that necessitated the sale of the instrument. Based on the recommendation of famed luthier James D'Aquisto, an amateur guitarist and student of noted jazzman Barry Galbraith purchased this guitar in 1976.

This instrument was hand made at the Guild plant in Hoboken, NJ (that is, prior to Guild's 1966 purchase by Avnet and relocation to Rhode Island). As one of only four blond/natural finish CA-100 guitars made in 1964 (plus only seven in sunburst) it's a particularly rare model. It has the slender, fast action neck--1 11/16" nut, 24 3/4" scale--for which Guild is rightly famous and the renown DeArmond Model 1000 floating pickup (which was available as an option from Guild).

This fine, carved spruce top instrument is a working (wo)man's guitar, built to take the rigors of gigging. While its condition is virtually the same today as it was in 1976, the strength and clarity of its acoustic and electric voices have, if anything, improved over the years.
