Introduced by PRS in 1998 the MCCARTY HOLLOWBODY had an offset double cutaway hollowbody with a carved spruce top and mahogany back & sides. The McCarty hollowbody was designed to have the perfect blend of warm acoustic jazz tones with the rich sustain of a solid body. It has a violin style sound post inside. This original version was made from 1998 to around 2003. It had a mahogany neck with a wide & fat profile, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl and abalone moon inlays, headstock (matches back/neck), PRS stoptail bridge, 3-per-side low mass tuners with ebony buttons, 2 McCarty Archtop pickups, volume/tone controls, 3-position toggle switch, available in Satin Vintage Natural finish (spruce top). A Piezo bridge pickup option was added in 1999. Bird inlays and gold hardware were available as options.
Other models in this series included the Hollowbody I (maple top and mahoghany back/sides), Hollowbody II (maple top and back) and Hollowbody Spruce (spruce top). All models are 1 3/4" depth at rim, 3" depth at bridge.
