Paul Stevens

Paul Stevens learned guitar-making at Guildhall University, London back in the 90's. He now has his own workshop on Pevensey Rd, Eastbourne where he spends most of his time making bespoke electric and acoustic guitars. Pauls custom guitars are made from top quality materials, premium hardware and the best electronic components. Most are based on classic designs but he does have plans for some more original rock machines.

For the last 20 years He has worked as a guitar repairer, in the Gibson Artist Relations Office London, Hanks Denmark Street, Wembley Guitar Centre, Bonners Music Shop and his own clients include Stereophonics, Idlewild and Tokyo Dragons. He has also worked as a guitar tech for the likes of Daniel Bedingfield, One Hundred Hours, and the West End show We Will Rock You. He now does repairs from his workshop in Eastbourne.

Starway

Starway guitars were made in the 1960s. Pete Shelley from The Buzzcocks played a red Starway guitar - the top of the body snapped off when Pete smashed it during a rehearsal. The Eastwood Guitar Company reissued the Shelley Starway Guitar in 2007 - with a limited production run of 88 instruments. All 88 guitars were signed by Pete Shelley and came with a hardshell case featuring the original ’76 buzzcocks logo. The guitar also came with Pete Shelley Signature strings from Rotosound, a white curly cord, a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, a leather buzzcocks logo strap and reproductions of buzzcocks memorabilia.

There is also a modern Chinese Starway company (in the logo the star is above the "W") which does not seem to be related to the Starway from the 1960s.

Stella

Stella was a brand name of the Oscar Schmidt Company of New Jersey - they used it for acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments from around 1899 onwards. The Harmony Company of Chicago bought the Stella brand in 1939 - the Stella brand would have been discontinued around 1975 when Harmony stopped production in the USA.
