YAMAHA FGX 412

YAMAHA made the FGX 412 between 1998 and 2001. It was a mid to low priced dreadnought style acoustic from Yamaha, in their well known folk guitar (FG) series. The FGX-412 was the cheapest in the FGX range and featured a spruce top. The back, sides, bridge and neck were made from nato. The fingerboard was rosewood with dot inlays and 20 frets. Hardware was chrome. The FGX-412 had a piezo bridge pickup with 3 Band EQ, AMF (adjustable mid-range frequency), volume battery light and mute.

WASHBURN S70

Washburn S70 Status Series bass guitar

The Washburn S70 was made under license from Status and had Status body desisgn, Status active electronics and solid brass Status hardware. The S70 had solid brass hadware, maple neck-through-body construction with American walnut on the front and back of the body. The Washburn S70 was made from the late 1980s until around 1994, There was also a fretless version - the S70-FL.

STEINBERGER GM4(S,T,A)

Production of the Steinberger GM4 began in 1988 and ended in 2001. The Steinberger GM4S was the standard GM4 model - with passive pickups and the S-Trem bridge. Optional extras for the GM4 model were the Trans-Trem (GM4T) and active pickups (GM4SA). You could also have combinations - for example the GM4A has both Trans-Trem and active pickups. Pickups were an EMG 85 humbucker at the bridge and two EMG SA single coils.

STEINBERGER GL2

STEINBERGER made the GL2 between 1983 and 2001. It has the classic minimalistic headless Steinberger design with one piece reinforced carbon fiber composite neck and body. Optional extras were a Steinberger TransTrem bridge (GL2T), white finish, 12 string configuration and left handed configuration.

Spector NS-2J limited edition walnut bass guitar

PEAVEY CIRRUS 5

The Peavey Cirrus 5 was introduced in 1997. It has a walnut body with various figured bookmatched top options including maple, redwood. Peavey described the features of the Cirrus 5 bass as follows:

Wenge with walnut is a superb combination for those who appreciate warmth with plenty of upper-end bite. The Cirrus walnut back and walnut neck are the basis for the warmth. The addition of the much harder wenge top gives a nice sizzling presence on the top end while still offering great sub-lows.

OVATION DEACON

Ovation Deacon electric guitar

The DEACON (MODEL 1252) was made between 1971 and 1982. The Deacon had a unique shape, designed to be beautiful to look at but also comfortable to play. It was perfectly balanced and ideal for playing seated as the shape afforded two playing positions . The bridge had solid brass self aligning saddles (nylon saddles on early models) with ball bearing action tips for easy height adjustment of individual strings. The bridge was mounted to the body by three large steel bolts -adjustable for height. Electronics were active with a FET preamplifier.

LTD JH-600 (JEFF HANNEMAN)

The LTD JH-600 was introduced in 2004. It is the more affordable version of the ESP Jeff Hanneman signature model. This is a black neck-though superstrat with bound ebony fingerboard and EMG 81/85 humbuckers. The model has gone through minor changes in its nearly 10 year history. Initially the LTD JH-600 had eagle fingerboard markers (up to the 12th fret and then dots) these are currently H & sword inlays (up to the 12th fret then swords). The 2005 ESP catalog says the body is maple (like on Hanneman's own guitar) but this was changed to alder in subsequent catalogs.

LAKLAND 4-94

Lakland introduced the 4-94 model in 1994, their very first bass. The 4-94 comes in three variations: classic, standard and deluxe. The differences between the 4-94 classic, standard and deluxe are in body woods: classic has an alder body, maple top and a pickguard; the standard and deluxe have swamp ash bodies with figured maple tops and no pickguard.

KRAMER RIPLEY (STEREO GUITAR, RSG-1)

Kramer Ripley Stereo electric guitar (RSG-1)

Steve Ripley's stereo guitar was originally unveiled in 1983 - but Kramer's version did not appear until late 1984. Eddie Van Halen used custom Ripleys and this lead to Kramer releasing their own Ripley (RSG-1) model. The Ripley was a essentially a Kramer Baretta but with a multi-channel Bartolini humbucker. Each string had its own knob on the lower rear bout of the body which allowed you to individually pan that strings output in the stereo spectrum. The circuit was powered by two 9V batteries.

IBANEZ SR885

Ibanez SR885 electric bass guitar

Production of the Ibanez SR885 began in 1987 and ended in 2003. It was the 5-string version of the SR800. This bass had two jazz bass style active pickups: Ibanez LO-J5  or Ibanez ADX. The bridge was a  Gotoh 5-string bridge or AccuCast B25 bridge. These typically finished in black or metallic blue, but early models also had red, laser blue or royal blue finish options.

IBANEZ SR1015

Ibanez SR1015 bass guitar

The IBANEZ SR1015 was the 5-string version of the SR1010 and was manufactured during the 1990s and discontinued around 1999. Ibanez upgraded the specifications of the SR1015 in 1998 - changing the pickups from ADX to SFR-MN and SFR-MB units, the bridge was changed to an Accu-Cast B-25. They also included the new Vari-Mid High-Fi EQ from 1998.

Kirk Hammett’s first ESP was ordered from the Custom Shop in 1987, later to become known as the KH-2 and one of ESP’s early Signature Series instruments. It was Kirk’s main touring guitar for many years. Introduced in 2001,the ESP KH-2 Vintage is a precise reproduction of that first KH-2, with the finish wear and stickers accumulated during many years of touring painstakingly reproduced.
