Sanox

Sanox was a brand name of the SSSound Company Ltd of Aichi, Japan. Sanox effects, guitars and basses were made from the late 1970s until the mid 1980s.

Positive Grid

Positive Grid is based in California, with satellite operations in Europe and Asia.Since 2008, the company has designed and developed a core technology base and is currently expanding it to various applications for mobile, desktop, and hardware. Positive Grid’s best-known product range features the JamUp, BIAS Amp, and BIAS FX amp-and-effects guitar processor software, as well as the BIAS Pro pedal line, and the BIAS Head and BIAS Rack amplifiers.

Pearl

The Japanese Pearl Drum company bought the Hayashi acoustic guitar company in the early 1970s, and began selling Pearl branded acoustic guitars made by Hayashi. There were also Pearl Export Series solid body electric guitars and basses made by Matsumoku from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s. The Pearl Musical Instrument company also sold a range of effects pedals and solid state amplifiers in the 1980s.

JOYO

JOYO TECHNOLOGY is a Chinese company specializing in R&D, manufacturing and marketing digital products for music education. There are two brands under JOYO TECH: JOYO and Dr. J. Their main products include: Effects Pedals, Guitar Amplifiers, Tube Amplifiers, Rock House, Metronomes, Tuners, EQ systems, Drum Practice Pads, Pedal Controllers, Synthesizers, E-Erhus, Wireless Systems, Audio Cables, and Portable Power Supplies.

Biyang

The Biyang brand was launched in 2003 as an affordable guitar effects range made in Shanxi province, China. In 2007 Biyang launched the Tone Fancier range - with mirror surfaced matching stainless steel control panels. The Biyang Baby Boom pedals were released in 2010 - these were miniature colorful pedals. In 2012 Biyang released the Classical Series, with pedals based on iconic designs of the past (e.g. the Biyang DS-12 is modelled on the 1980s RAT distortion pedal).  2015 saw the launch of the Biyang Live Master series -  a modular pedal board multifx system.

Vestax

Vestax was a Japanese musical instrument, turntable and audio equipment firm founded by Hidesato Shiino in 1977 as part of his Shiino Musical Instrument Corporation. Previously Shiino had used the Vesta brand name. Vestax was initially an electric guitar company but in the 1980s, they began to make multitracks recorders and later DJ mixers, professional turntables, compact disc players and signal processors. Financial problems lead to the company's bankruptcy at the end of 2014.

Echolette

Echolette was a German manufacturer of electronic amplifiers and effects units,  founded in the 1930s by Arthur Klemt. Echolette made tube amps, a disc echo system and vocoder effects. There were also Echolette electric guitars in the 1960s, but these are much rarer than the amplifiers and effects. Echolette was sold to the Dynacord company in the 1980s. The Echolette brand name was later aquired by the German music distributor Thomann who now sell Echolette amplifiers.

Supro

The Supro brand name was introduced in the 1930s by the Valco company who made a range of Supro amplifiers, electric, acoustic & lap steel guitars as well as a range of accessories. Valco merged with Kay Musical Instrument Company in 1967, but this new company quickly went out of business in 1968 and the Supro brand was discontinued.

In 2013 Absara Audio LLC, owner of analog effect brand Pigtronix, aquired the Supro trademark from former Fender amp designer and Pigtronix associate, Bruce Zinky who was retained as a design engineer. They built a new factory in Port Jefferson Station, NY to make a line of USA-made, vintage-inspired Supro tube amplifiers.  As well as the new range of amplifiers they also introduced a new series of Supro electric guitars and effects pedals.

Dimavery

Dimavery is a brand first introduced in 2004 by the German SLM (Sound, Light & More) Company. In 2009 it was taken over by the Steinigke Showtechnic Company - a major German distributor of stage equipment. Dimavery products are aimed at beginners and are made in China. The Dimavery range includes stringed instruments, percussion instruments, woodwinds and brass instruments: everything from the guitar, through to the violin, the cajon to the French horn. Dimavery try to put a fresh spin on the traditional guitar designs by using unusual colors and special editions like aged Stratocasters, hollow bodies with bright colors and a Beatles bass.
 

Schaller

The Schaller Company started out as a radio repair shop founded by Helmut Schaller in 1945. Helmut Schaller was a talented inventor holding numerous musical instrument related patents,  and he went on to build the Schaller Company into a leading manufacturer of quality guitar components.The range of products has continuously changed over time, the focus gradually shifting from amplifiers and effects to hardware components including machine heads, mutes, bows, pickups, tailpieces, strap-locks, bridges and tremolos. Schaller was originally located in Feucht, near Nuremberg in Germany but is now based in Postbauer-Heng, Bavaria.
 

Bootlegger

Bootlegger Guitar is a brand owned by Chuck Wilson of  Hermosa Beach California. Bootlegger offer vintage style guitars, effects and tube amps at affordable prices. Bootlegger Guitars are built by Muse Korea and Julious Salaka Indonesia. Their Amps are built by Best Amp China. All are designed by in Hermosa Beach California.
 

Blast Cult

Luthier Jason Burns (of King Doublebass) launched the Blast Cult brand in 2011 - intially as an upright bass brand for the alternative/rockabilly player. Blast-Cult products now include: upright bass, electric bass, electric guitar, strings, pickups and effects pedals.

Arbiter

The Arbiter company produced some notable guitar effects in the 1960s, like the Fuzz Face and had the UK franchise to distribute Fender and Teisco guitars. Dallas Musical Ltd aquired Arbiter Electronics in the late 1960s and formed Dallas Arbiter Ltd, with Ivor Arbiter as deputy chairman. Dallas Arbiter went on to produce the UK made Hayman range of guitars. They also distributed a ranged of Arbiter branded Japanese made electric guitars in the 1970s and 1980s, typically Gibson copies.

Ivor Arbiter left Dallas Arbiter five years after the merger, it was possibly after this that the company became Dallas Musical Industries (DMI). DMI continued at least until the 1980s.
