Edgar Mönch was a contemporary of Hermann Hauser in 1950s Munich who made guitars for Julian Bream and John Williams amongst others. In 1965 he moved to Toronto, Canada where he trained many other luthiers including : Kolya Panhuyzen, Jean L'Arrivee, Michael Shriner, Sergei de Jonge and William 'Grit' Laskin.
